Turn Your Backyard Into a Place You Actually Use.
Duffie Driveway Solutions builds concrete patios and porches that hold up to South Carolina weather - and the way you actually live outdoors.
Your outdoor space should work as hard as the rest of your home. Whether you're dreaming of a patio for summer cookouts, a covered porch that handles the afternoon rain, a walkway that finally connects your yard properly, or a pool deck that doesn't turn into a slip hazard — Duffie Driveway Solutions has you covered. We
design and pour residential concrete surfaces throughout Columbia, Irmo, Blythewood, and surrounding communities that are built for real life and South Carolina weather.
Every project starts with proper site prep: excavation, grading for drainage, a compacted aggregate base, and reinforcement before the pour. We finish the surface with the texture or stamp pattern you choose — broom finish for traction, smooth trowel for a clean look, or decorative stamped patterns that give you the appearance of stone or brick at a fraction of the cost. Control joints are cut to manage cracking, and the finished slab drains away from your home instead of pooling near your foundation.

What You Get From a Residential Concrete Project
We start by excavating to the proper depth, removing soil and debris until the base is stable and level. A compacted aggregate layer goes in to promote drainage, and rebar or wire mesh is set to reinforce the slab. Concrete is poured in sections, screeded to the correct height, and finished with the texture or stamp pattern you selected. Control joints are cut or formed to direct cracking as the slab cures.
Once the project is finished, you'll have a level, uniform surface that handles furniture, foot traffic, and outdoor entertaining without settling or cracking. Water drains away from your home instead of pooling on the patio or walkway. Stamped and decorative finishes provide consistent color and texture across the entire slab. We clean the site, haul away debris, and walk you through curing and maintenance so your concrete reaches full strength and stays looking great.
We run every project on a defined schedule and coordinate material delivery to keep things on track. We don't do landscaping, outdoor kitchens, or underground plumbing repairs — but we will spot drainage concerns and recommend grading adjustments before the pour begins.
Questions About Concrete Patios, Walkways, and Pool Decks
Homeowners want to know about finishes, durability, and what to expect during and after installation. Here's what we hear most often.
What finish is best for a pool deck?
Broom finish or stamped concrete with a slip-resistant sealer are both great choices around a pool. They provide traction in wet conditions, resist fading from pool chemicals and sunlight, and hold up to the constant wet-dry cycles that come with pool use. We'll help you choose based on your pool shape and how much decorative detail you want.
How thick should a patio slab be?
Most patios are poured at four inches — that's sufficient for outdoor furniture, foot traffic, and casual entertaining. If you're planning to place heavy planters, a large fire pit, or other concentrated loads on the slab, we may recommend going thicker in those areas. We'll assess your plans during the estimate.
Why does concrete need control joints?
Concrete shrinks as it cures, and that shrinkage causes cracking. Control joints give the concrete a planned place to crack — at the joint, where it's invisible — rather than randomly across the surface of your patio. Properly placed joints are one of the most important things we do, and they're one of the things that separates a quality install from one that looks rough in two years.
Can you match the color of my existing concrete?
We can get close — really close — using integral pigments and color hardeners matched to your existing slab. That said, new concrete always cures lighter than aged concrete, and weathering will affect the color over time. We'll be upfront about what to expect so there are no surprises when the forms come off.
When should I seal a new patio or walkway?
We recommend sealing about 30 days after the pour, once the concrete has fully cured. A good sealer protects the surface from stains, moisture, and UV damage — all things that matter here in the Midlands. We can point you toward the right product for your specific finish.
